Facilities

Wheelchair access:

The Zoo is more than 170 years old and contains many old buildings, 12 of which are listed. However, most of the Zoo is accessible for wheelchair users and those with walking difficulties, with two notable exceptions. There is no access to the Moonlight World and no direct access to the Aquarium. However, if visitors present themselves at the Information Kiosk, near the Zoo entrance, we can arrange for a volunteer to take you into the Aquarium via level access at the rear.

The penguin pool (listed Grade 1) has limited viewing for wheelchair users and very small children.

The paths are generally tarmac and there is level or ramped access to most buildings. We should also add that the slopes leading to the two tunnels in the Zoo are rather steep.

Toilets for disabled visitors:

Men and women: opposite BUGS and in the Children's Zoo

Men only: by the Aquarium

Women only: near the African Aviary and Zoo entrance

Changing table: available at the First Aid post

Wheelchairs:

There are six manual wheelchairs and two electric buggies available at the Zoo entrance. There is no hire charge, but we ask you to pay a deposit of £25. It is strongly recommended that you book a wheelchair in advance of your visit to ensure that you get one. Please call 020 7449 6576 to reserve one.

Large print guide:

Please ask at the Zoo entrance or the Information Kiosk for information and a map in large print.

Refreshments:

Oasis Café:

Located on Barclay Court the Oasis Café and Coffee Bar is open all year round serving a wide range of freshly prepared hot meals, baguettes, cakes and pastries, as well as a children's 'pick and mix' lunch box.

With modern facilities and seating for over 300 the Oasis Café makes for a welcome rest on your adventure at London Zoo.

Oasis Picnic Shop:

Just across the court from the main café is the Oasis Picnic Shop, open during the summer season and on weekends serving baguettes, salads, ice creams, coffees and a wide range of childrens treats such as candyfloss and popcorn - the perfect place to stop in for a light snack or coffee on the go.

Fish and chips:

Situated next to the BUGS exhibit is the Fish and Chips kiosk. Serving freshly battered Hoki from sustainable fish sources, this traditional English favourite is available during the summer and on the weekends except for the months of December and January.

Aquarium kiosk:

Next door to the Aquarium, this kiosk is open all year round and serves as a great place to get that cup of coffee or treat that you deserve.
