National Gallery
The National Gallery in Trafalgar Square contains over 2,300 paintings from the mid 13th century to the early 20th century, and holds various special exhibitions and events throughout the year.
The opportunity to see so much great art under one roof - from Leonardo Da Vinci to Van Gogh - free of charge, should not be missed, so take some time out from the bustle of the city and be inspired.
They say every picture tells a story, and there are in-depth talks,and guided and audio tours delving into the history and symbolism behind the paintings.
Families can get creative together at art workshops, friends can meet up in the cafe or restaurant, and the shops have exclusive “arty” gifts. Regular music concerts are held, and the gallery is open until 9pm on Fridays.
