Sitio Litre Orchid Gardens

The orchard garden of Sitio Litre is the most beautiful garden you could wish to visit in the North of Tenerife. It is the oldest garden in Tenerife and has a fantastic private mansion that dates back to 1730. Agatha Christie, Alexander von Humboldt, the famous explorer and botanist and the artist Marianne North have all stayed at the house over the years. An exhibition of Marianne North's paintings can be seen at the gardens, on loan from kew Gardens where there are over 800 examples of her work and you can see some of the scenes she painted at the gardens during her stay. The owners have decide to open their magnificent gardens to the public who will be able to see the largest collection of beautiful orchids on the island and the oldest dragon tree in Puerto de la Cruz. Sitio Litre is a beautiful English style garden, crammed with hundreds of spectacular flowers and plants, a large pond with Koi carp and a nice little cafe where you can sit and admire the wonderful settings of the gardens.
