Siurana - The Perfect Place

Siruana is one of the most beautiful villages that you could wish to visit whilst in the Costa Daurada, surrounded by the mountain ranges of Montsant, Gritella and the Mountains of Prades. With spectacular views it is world famous for its rock climbing & hiking and is steeped in fascinating history dating back many hundreds of years. Perched high on a rock in the river above the reservoir of the same name, it was thought to be impossible to conquer and as such was victim to endless sieges.  It took knights of four counties to conquer it and it is said that the Holy Grail actually passed through the region and some still search for it! In 1953 a memorial cross was erected to commemorate the reconquest of Siurana 800 years before in 1153, the last Muslim enclave to fall to the Christians in Catalonia.
